We had such a wonderful time at the skating rink on Sunday. There were 54 people skating and talking among each other. It was so relaxing to be among friends and families. We will be going again. Skate world was awesome and the people there were great. Our next event on Feb. 14 at the bowling alley in Rochester is really looking like a success too. Our Winter Kid’s camp is comming up fast so all you heartlanders get ready for the super heros in your neighborhood. I believe it will be the biggest camp yet to date. Come and get plugged in. There is room for all who want to help and be a part in the most fun you will ever have !! Maggie
What would LOVE do? January 25, 2010
A friend of mine on facebook posted something that broke my heart…here’s what it said…
“Shame on you America: the only country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed without eating, elderly going without needed meds, and mentally ill without treatment – yet we have a benefit for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations. 99% of people won’t have the guts to copy and repost this.”
What I would like to know is–when did Americans become so selfish? Are there more people who think this way? I’m sure there are, because I noticed that more than one of my friends posted that little paragraph on their facebook page.
While I will agree that there are many people in this country who need help, what on earth does that have to do with helping someone else?! Not once did America’s financial situation cross my mind when I was giving to the offering we took up last Sunday for Haiti. Our own circumstances should never hinder our giving. We, as people, need to get out of the mindset of “What are you doing for me?” and instead ask “What can I do for you?”.
I pray that everyone who feels as if the American people are being cheated by others giving to Haiti will have a change in their heart. I pray that they truly ask themselves…”What would LOVE do?”
Youth Ski Trip! January 21, 2010
Hey guys!
Well, it’s that time of year! There’s lots of snow on the ground and it’s been a little frigid. So what better time to go skiing?! Join us on February 7th at noon, when we will be leaving from the Winamac church to go to Swiss Valley in Jones, Michigan. We will be skiing from 3 till 7, then heading back to the church. (There are places to eat at Swiss Valley, so we’ll be dining there at some point in the evening.)
Cost: $18/person (skis are included, extra $15 for snowboard) and money for dinner.
Seats are limited, so please let me know if you’re going as soon as you can! Also, if you are an adult and would like to provide rides, please let me know ASAP!
I will have a sign up sheet at the Winamac campus for the next couple weeks. If you cannot make it to Winamac to sign up, please feel free to call or text me (574-732-4945).
Hope to see you all there!

Winamac YOUTH!!! December 14, 2009
For those of you who missed our meeting today…here’s most of what we covered…
1. Obviously, we discussed the New Year’s Concert. We talked about T-shirts. We decided to get a bright color so we would stand out from everyone else (who will most likely be wearing black) and settled on yellow. The adults shirts will say Rock Youth on the front and Staff on the back. T-shirts are $7, hoodies are $17! If you want a shirt, please contact me ASAP!!! (574-732-4945) We need all orders and money to be in Art’s possession by THIS FRIDAY (12/18) in order to get the shirts in time for the concert. So please have your order and money to me by this THURSDAY because I will see him the next morning! ![]()
~*We talked about pushing all the tables toward the back of the sanctuary instead of taking them out (that way it looks fuller when we’re all up by the stage) and we’ll be putting a room divider on one side of the sanctuary so that the band has a place to hang out before going on stage.
~*We came up with a cutoff date for ticket sales. We will need the money from your ticket sales by Sunday, December 27th.
2. January 14th will be our next regular Youth service. 6-8pm
3. January 30th we will be having a kickball fund raiser for the Youth! This is going to be fun AND it will help our Youth get rolling financially. Thanks to Bud and Tammy for their awesome idea and for volunteering to set it all up!
I’ll give more information on that as it comes.
4. February 6th we’re going to Valpo to go skiing/tubing! It’s going to be great! Again, this is in the works so we don’t have much info yet but I’ll keep you updated!
*February Youth service is yet to be determined*
5. February 28th after church we’re going ICE SKATING!!! WOO!!! (My idea!
) We will either be going to Fort Wayne or Carmel. When we make a decision, I’ll let you know!
If you guys have ANY questions or ideas, please don’t hesitate to call me, text me, or leave me a comment!
Love you all!

New Year’s Concert!!! November 30, 2009
Hey guys! Our New Year’s Eve Concert is going to ROCK!!! We’re going to have a live band (hopefully more than one!), games, food, and prizes! We’re totally psyched to be planning such an AWESOME event! I think the leaders are just as excited about it as the Youth are!
This is open to all campuses, not just Winamac! So bring your teens! We’re believing for at least 100 and we’ll need all the manpower we can get!
The whole night will be from 8pm till 1am. We can do it in shifts if that’s too long for some of you.
We look forward to seeing everyone!!! If you’d like to help out, contact me or Jeanne Newman.

Sponsor a Youth! November 23, 2009
Hey guys! As many of you know, every spring, we take a group of Heartlanders to Uganda, Africa. (Awesome, right?!) Well, this year, we have a bunch of youth from OUR CAMPUS who want to join the team! But where is a teen going to get that kind of money??? This is where YOU come in! So what can you do to help? One of two thing (or both!):
- Sponsor a Youth! There are plenty of people in the church who need a little work done around the house or office. So get ahold of a leader, we’ll fix you up with a youth, and together, you can rake leaves, shovel snow, paint, etc.–all while raising money for the Uganda trip! You’ll also be building some great relationships!
- Hire a Youth and their sponsor to do a job! Need your oil changed? Leaves raked? Get ahold of a youth leader and we’ll set you up with a team (a youth and their sponsor) to come help! Donations are much appreciated and will go toward the Uganda trip!
For more information, feel free to contact any of the youth leaders at church (Jeanne Newman, Cathy Johnson, me, Kevin Price, or Lacey Hubenthal. You can also talk to Brian Johnson or Norm Allen) or email me–Trista Price! tkprice42206@yahoo.com
God bless!

Family November 22, 2009
Our church is really becomming a great family. Every campass is there for the other campasses. The Pastors help each other as well as growing relationships and showing all of us how. I went to the Starke co. campass and truly enjoyed the kids there. Everyone should venture to the other campasses and check it out. It is truly a great way to get connected.
I want to wish everyone a great Thanksgiving and remember to thank God for our Blessings.
Remember the winter wonderland outreach is comming up. We will be working on the float for the parade on Sat. the 28. If you want to ride on the float give us a yell and we will gladly find you the perfect spot.
It is great that the youth are going strong. God is good !
Maggie
